Background

Ventia’s Environmental Monitoring business has one of the largest teams in Australia. They operate 1200 permanent water information stations, including stream, irrigation, water storage, water quality and meteorological sites. There are approximately 400 service stations across Victoria, with some of them currently engage 3G backhaul for real-time telemetry. As Telstra announces plans to shutdown 3G network, Ventia had to seek new remote communication solution.

Key Advantages

• Ultra Low Power Consumption (15mA @
12VDC)
• LTE CAT M1 (B28) Supported
• Direct AT Command
• Small Form Factor

Requirements

To maintain the existing monitoring systems across Victoria, Ventia would need a new communication device that supports:

• Serial RS232 communication with dataloggers
• LTE (B28) cellular compatibility with Telstra
network
• Low power consumption due to solar power

Our Solutions

The InDTU Industrial M2M Modem fits in this application. With a built-in RS232 interface, it handles various requests from Ventia’s dataloggers seamlessly. The low power electronics design makes it a perfect fit to many of existing solar deployment. Additionally the InDTU Modem is fully compatible with Telstra’s LTE CATM1 network.
